SUMMARY:YP Tour: SoHo with AIA New York\, 8/24
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to invite you to an American Institute of Architects New York (AIA New York) walking tour of SoHo on Tuesday\, August 24\, from 6:00-8:00 PM. Tim Hayduk\, Lead Design Educator with AIA New York\, will walk YPs through the neighborhood\, exploring its rich history and distinctive mid-19th century architecture\, as well as creative examples of adaptive reuse\, urban planning\, and development. \nThis tour will contextualize the discussion around the SoHo/NoHo Neighborhood Plan to establish a new special district to modernize the area’s zoning\, which entered the City’s formal public review process (ULURP) in May 2021. We will view some of the recent buildings approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission as appropriate for inclusion within the district as well as significant historic sites to examine a range of design strategies for historic districts. \nIf you are interested\, please sign up here by Wednesday\, August 18. Please note\, space is limited and attendees will be selected at random. All entrants will be notified by Friday\, August 20\, regardless of whether or not they have been selected. \nThis tour opportunity will be outdoors. We hope that you can join us! \n
