Policy Brief: Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB)

Yojaira Alvarez, Director of Outreach and Intergovernmental Affairs and Harya Tarekegn, Senior Counsel for Policy and Advocacy at the CCRB discussed the independent agency responsible for receiving, investigating, mediating, hearing, prosecuting, making findings, and recommending action on complaints against New York City police officers alleging the use of excessive or unnecessary force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, or the use of offensive language. They also addressed the history of the organization and its role as the largest civilian oversight agency in the country today.
