MISSION
The Association for a Better New York (ABNY) is a nonprofit organization that convenes, mobilizes, and activates the region’s public and private sectors for the continuous growth and renewal of New York City’s people, communities, and businesses.
WHO WE ARE
ABNY is a broad coalition of corporate, nonprofit, labor, educational, health, cultural, and government leaders focused on exploring and implementing ideas that keep New York City moving forward. With more than 250 member organizations, we continue to be a leader in the City’s civic dialogue by utilizing the resources and expertise of our network to convene leaders, produce original research, and work with our members to advocate for important public policies that affect all New Yorkers.
VISION
ABNY continues to carry out its mission as a leading forum where government officials and private sector leaders work together on solutions to New York’s most pressing economic and social problems. ABNY achieves this by incorporating a comprehensive and diverse view of the issues and challenges facing New Yorkers to help solve public challenges and ensure New York is a better place for all those who live, work, and visit. ABNY anchors this work in three areas 1) ensuring significant investment in the dynamic and diverse people who make up the City, 2) strengthening the neighborhoods and communities throughout the five boroughs, and 3) supporting and advocating for small and large businesses that keep New York City a leader of innovation.
Moving forward, ABNY will use its signature programs–Power Events, special briefings, educational events, Young Professionals programming, ABNY Women events, and special projects–to bolster civic engagement for all New Yorkers. ABNY Power Breakfasts will continue to offer an opportunity for elected and government officials, as well as civic and business leaders, to present the ideas and policies they believe can help foster a better New York. The ABNY Young Professionals network will use happy hours and networking platforms, online and in person, to maintain a unique opportunity for the future leaders of New York City to explore the importance of civic engagement and learn about the critical issues facing our city and state. ABNY Women will expand its platform for women to explore, discuss, and foster change in the workplace and beyond through a series of events and talks by female leaders. And ABNY special projects will build on the foundation created by the Census 2020 effort and work with community-based organizations to support and strengthen our most vulnerable New Yorkers and communities.
