New York, NY – Today, ABNY Chairman Steven Rubenstein and ABNY CEO Melva M. Miller joined New York City Mayor Eric Adams and leadership at the New York City Police Department (NYPD) in an effort to decrease car theft numbers in New York City. ABNY donated 500 Apple AirTags that will be distributed to car owners in New York City to ensure that stolen cars can be easily tracked, and to provide a theft deterrent. The new effort was unveiled in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx, one of the neighborhoods hardest hit by auto theft.

While many of the major crime categories in New York City have steadily decreased under Mayor Adams’ leadership — including the most violent crimes — grand larceny auto continues to increase. On Sunday, the Mayor outlined several measures and tips for car owners to prevent the theft of their vehicle.
