How did you get to where you are today?

I studied Entrepreneurship at SUNY Albany and started a tech and an ice cream company. While growing these ventures, I did development consulting on the side to fund the startups. Eventually I realized that consulting work is my calling and what I love to do. My real strength is seeing solutions across different industries before others do. Instead of chasing every opportunity, I’ve learned to wait for the right ones to come to me. This led me to establish Full Value Potential and join Urban Strategies, where I help government, technology, consumer product, real estate, environmental, energy, and nonprofit organizations with strategic planning, development, marketing and government affairs.

What are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of watching my six-year-old daughter continue to grow and thrive, and stewarding her through the homeschooling journey while growing my consulting practice. Professionally, I’m most proud of defining success my own way. Building startups taught me about growth, but helping civic-minded organizations develop and evolve is especially rewarding. Right now, I’m building a collection of innovative, market-ready startups and preparing them for pilots and contracting opportunities—combining my entrepreneurial and consulting experiences. This is a new initiative I’m energized by, and I welcome anyone who wants to learn more to reach out and get involved!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to work in your field?

First, find a mentor. Work as an apprentice and learn through hands-on experience in the field. Second, there is power in being present. I’m always out there networking, listening, learning, and conversing. Participation in community is a really important element of success. Third, progress is a team sport. Make friends, be of service to the people around you, and communicate well with others to build alliances.

When did you realize that you are a New Yorker?

I’ve always been a New Yorker, but I especially realized New Yorkers are a different breed when I travel. I was born and raised going back and forth between the Upper East Side and Rockaway Beach, and I’m still living in Rockaway today. My family has been out here for 100 years! When I was 5 years old, I was selling cups of lemonade and iced tea at the beach. At 13, I was riding the A train to and from the city and skateboarding around Central Park. I have connections to many parts of Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and upstate through jobs, school, family, friends, and travels.
