Moving NYC Forward

November: Veteran and Military Families Services

November is Veterans and Military Families month. ABNY is showcasing YPs who are supporting those members of our communities and their invaluable contributions to our nation.

Congratulations to our November Spotlight of the Month, Jason Loughran, Assistant Commissioner at NYC Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS).

Jason Loughran is a Veteran of the United States Navy and currently serves as the Assistant Commissioner of Community Affairs for the New York City Department of Veterans’ Services. In his role at the Department, he manages the agency’s direct service programming and synchronizes their efforts with public, private, and not-for-profit agencies to overcome the barriers hindering New York City Veterans from accessing mental health, employment, entrepreneurship, legal, and educational resources. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he created Mission: VetCheck through a partnership with New York Cares and the Mayor’s Office of Community Health, to combat social isolation among the veteran community through supportive check-in calls conducted by volunteers.

Thank you for all of your hard work, Jason!
