How did you get to where you are today?

I’ve worn a few different career hats and learned that every experience adds skills you can carry forward. Relationships are key. Never underestimate a coffee, a conversation, or connecting at an ABNY event. You never know where it might lead.

What are you most proud of?

In my current role, it has been about building the plane while flying it. Seeing the progress we’ve made over the past few years after so much intentional effort is incredibly rewarding. The support from corporate sponsors and elected officials helps us make a real difference for the unhoused families and children we serve, with impact that often goes far beyond what we can see.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to work in your field?

Be intentional. Ask questions. Make mistakes. Build relationships. Trial and error is part of the process, and curiosity rather than judgement will take you far.

When did you realize that you are a New Yorker?

I grew up in Nebraska and have lived in New Jersey for nearly 15 years, but I knew I had become a ‘local’ when I started asking everyone, ‘Are you a New Yorker or a local?’ I’ll likely bring it up at an upcoming ABNY event to spark a debate.
