How did you get to where you are today?

I started my career path as an intern at ABNY when I was in high school, and that experience sparked my appreciation for the role civic-minded organizations play in shaping in the city. With the support of family, friends, and mentors, I launched my career at Goldman Sachs, where I worked in asset management focused on alternative investments, as well as investment research. That experience, along with international exposure in Hong Kong, set the foundation for my career, and today I serve as Chief Operating Officer of Global Research & Investment Strategy at Carlyle. Staying close to my networks, including ABNY through the Young Professionals, has reinforced for me the importance of public and private sector partnerships to advance New York.

What are you most proud of?

To me, success is not only about investing in yourself, but also about investing in others. I’m proud of helping others achieve their career and personal goals through mentorship and advocacy. Whether through ABNY, the Council of Urban Professionals, the Bloomberg Buyside Women’s Network, or the affinity groups in the companies where I have worked, I’ve made it a priority to pay it forward and create space for others to thrive. Knowing I’ve helped someone else advance their goals is the most rewarding part of my journey.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to work in your field?

In financial services, where analytical skills and technical expertise are critical, what sets you apart is having confidence in your unique perspective and the ability to build a meaningful network. Success comes not only from having expertise but also from honest communication, sound judgment, and creativity. Just as important is staying curious—constantly learning about markets, industries, and people—and strengthening relationships across sectors. Strong relationships, when coupled with deep expertise, can open doors and shape opportunities in ways that technical skills alone cannot.

When did you realize that you are a New Yorker?

Being from the Dominican Republic and having lived in Europe and Asia and traveled all over the world, I’ve always considered myself a New Yorker at heart, but I realize it most when I’m away from the city for too long. New York reflects the best of everywhere—cultures, cuisines, and communities all in one. There’s an energy and rhythm here I can’t find anywhere else, and whenever I leave, I’m anchored by the knowledge that the city is always there for me, waiting for me to come back home. I feel fortunate that I can always find a little taste of the world right here in New York.
